I was caught up in a whirlwind when I found out that I had cancer on a Monday morning in October of 2011. I was admitted to the hospital that same day in preparation to have emergency surgery the next morning to remove the tumors and then found out I had GIST – all in a 24 hour period! I felt like my world had turned upside down and shortly after that during my recovery, I was lucky enough to find Life Raft.
In that discovery, I have found people willing to take the time to answer my questions; I have made good friends and feel so welcomed. I am a retired steel worker and live in a little town, East Brady, Pennsylvania. I have been happily married to my wife, Chris, for 43 years. We have two daughters and four beautiful grandchildren. I know what a caring community can do to offer support in times of need! I know how invaluable the support of family and friends can be. Life Raft Group is a community of caring, and I am so honored to take on my new role as LRG’s western Pennsylvania representative. I hope to be able to give others opportunities to share, seek answers, and find support just as I have done.
